Back to Mini Lessons Technical Vocabulary #1: The other day, I was letting my fingers do the walking through the páginas amarillas of my guía telefónica, and I happened to glance at the índice. It occurred to me that here was a quick and easy way to acquire some vocabulario técnico in Spanish. You might want to give it a try yourself. Keep in mind that some of these terms will vary from country to country. To give you an idea, here are twenty gems I gleaned from my Costa Rican phone book. See how many of them you can match up, by writing the number of the Spanish term next to its English equivalent. Have fun. Once you’ve mastered the complete list, you can open your own ferretería.
